Pastoral Council & Circulars

K/201.02/01/10 10th February 2010

Dear Rev. Fathers/ Trustees/ Pastoral Council Members,

In the first Pastoral Council Meeting of this term certain concerns of the eparchy had been prioritized according to its importance, to be discussed at the subsequent Parish-Zonal-Pastoral councils. Hence this time we would like to have a discussion on ‘the Christ centred families in our Eparchy ’. The points and questions for reflection and suggestion are given below. You are requested to discuss the same in the parish-zonal-pastoral councils and propose your suggestions to the next forum.

The theme for reflection - Christ Centred Families:
• Lack of prayer and sacramental life, the erosion of values, consumerism, relativism, fast life, BPO culture, television, internet, self-centredness, etc have badly affected the families in their relationship with God.
• The families need to accept Christ as their Lord and Master and experience the presence of Christ in their lives.
• The families need to mould their lives after the example of Holy Family.

Questions for discussion:
1. What are the major threats the families are facing in their spiritual, familial, social life in leading a Christ-centred life?
2. What are the practicable measures that can be adopted to tackle these threats?
3. How can a family with all the members together experience the presence of Christ in their life giving more importance to Christ than anything else?
4. How do we develop deep-rooted or unflinching faith in Christ in our families especially among children and youth?
5. What is our approach when the younger generation tells us that they are not interested in religious matters?

As was decided in the previous meeting, the next Pastoral Council is scheduled to be held on 20th March 2010 at 3.30 pm. All the Pastoral Council members are requested to attend the same.
